Camping and mosquitoes

I really can’t stand mosquitoes. There’s just something so wrong about them. And when you’re out somewhere camping, and there’re mosquitoes out and about, that can really make for a nasty combination.

Mosquitoes are small, so they’re hard to see. I hate it when I can hardly see them out in the dark, but I can hear them because they’re buzzing close by (or are those flies?). So even when they’re not biting me, they annoy me because I feel that they get into my hair, or buzz right above it, or bump up against my face or other similarly exposed flesh. Eck.

And then when they do bite, things just go from bad to worse. Darn things. I slap at them, but they keep on coming back for more. I wish I could engage in some warning slaps, scaring them away. But no, they don’t scare at all. Even after I’ve disposed of some of their mosquito compatriots, they just keep on coming back. It’s terrible.
